Day 1 of the UGC Free Challenge Is in the Books
Last night we kicked off Day 1 of the UGC Free Challenge, and honestly? What a way to start.
Creators showed up from all over — different cities, different time zones, different starting points. Some have been making content for a while. Some are completely new and still figuring out what UGC even is. All of them chose to spend a Monday night investing in their future instead of scrolling. That's not nothing, and I don't take it for granted.
Here's a quick recap of what we covered, in case you missed it live or just want to revisit the highlights.
What we got into
The whole first call was about one thing: building a portfolio that actually gets you booked.
I opened up about my own story — leaving my 9-to-5 with no real idea what UGC was, building a portfolio that was genuinely bad at first, and pitching brands anyway even when I was terrified. That path is the reason this challenge exists. If I could figure it out from scratch, so can you.
From there we walked through the roadmap for the next 12 days and the three phases we're moving through: Portfolio, Pitches, and Pricing. Everyone now knows exactly what they're walking away with by Day 12 — a brand-ready portfolio, a target brand list, real pitches sent, a rate sheet, follow-up templates, and the confidence to do this on repeat.
The heart of the call: the 4-Pillar Framework
The main teaching was my 4 Pillars of a Pitchable Portfolio. The big reframe of the night was this: most new creators build a portfolio for themselves instead of for the brand. Brands aren't asking "is this pretty?" They're asking one question — "can this person sell my product?"
The four pillars that answer that question:
- Range — show that you can do more than one format. Aim for 4 to 6 different styles.
- Hooks — the first two seconds are everything. Show variety in how you open.
- Niche — clear positioning so a brand knows who you are within five seconds.
- Conversion — prove you can actually drive action, not just awareness. This is the pillar almost no one teaches, and it's the one that gets you the higher-paying campaigns.
We closed out with the production basics that separate creators who book from creators who get ghosted — clean your lens, leave headroom, captions on everything, and stay in the safe zone when you add text.
What's next
Homework before our next call: pick your niche, plan four portfolio pieces using the 4 Pillars, and film at least two of them. Daily emails are going out in between calls with the step-by-step details.
Our next live call is Thursday at 7 PM Eastern, and it might be the most important one of the whole challenge — we're learning to pitch. If you can make it live, make it live. The replay is good, but the energy in the room is something you have to be there for.
If you showed up last night: thank you, and be proud of yourself. Most people never take the leap. You did.
See you Thursday. 💕
